Another one of the favorite activities for tourists is walking around the historical streets of Santiago. You can visit the 4 Squares that surround the Cathedral, walk along the rua do Vilar, the rua Nova or get lost in the Alameda Park while looking for the best spot to get the most amazing panoramic view of the Cathedral.

Museums in Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela has an attractive variety of museums to suit everyone’s preferences. The most recommended are: Museo do Pobo Galego: It was established in 1976 in the former convent of Santo Domingo de Bonaval to investigate, preserve, spread, promote and protect the Galician culture. Galician Centre of Contemporary Art: The museum, designed by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza and built between 1988 and 1993, hosts exhibitions by different artists. Eugenio Granell Museum-Foundation: The Museum was created by the painter Eugenio Granell to exhibit his paintings along with the work of other painters as well. Troya House: This museum recreates the student atmosphere of the famous boarding house run by 'Doña Generosa' in Santiago de Compostela at the end of the 19th century and immortalized by the writer Alejandro Pérez Lugín in his novel 'La Casa de la Troya'. The City of Culture of Galicia, designed by Peter Eisenman at the end of the 21st century, is a museum by itself. Its sophisticated architecture is the main attraction, even though you will also find temporary exhibitions high cultural significance throughout the year.
